**OPM has launched a new HR [Shared](https://federalnewsnetwork.com/it-modernization/2026/03/opm-launches-new-hr-shared-service-center-for-agencies/) Service Center**, offering federal agencies a voluntary, fee‑for‑service way to modernize and consolidate HR operations.

The center provides standardized tools for benefits, onboarding, payroll, performance management, and workforce planning aimed at reducing fragmentation and duplicative systems across government.

Several agencies have already joined, with a projected **six‑month transition timeline**. This move supports the broader **Federal HR 2.0** push toward efficiency, consistency, and mission focus.
